ABOUT TINNITUS
Although at present there may be no cure for tinnitus, the research into the condition enables us to provide guidance to help reduce and manage it.
The causes of Tinnitus is not always clear but could be linked with the following conditions:
Some form of hearing loss
Head injuries or exposure to loud noises
Ear infections
Conditions such as diabetes, anxiety or depression
Taking certain medication
We would advise anyone suffering from Tinnitus to inform their GP first.
SIGNS OF TINNITUS
Sounds often described by a patient as a ringing, buzzing, whooshing, humming, hissing, throbbing, music or singing.
These sounds can be heard in just 1 or both ears, or in your head. They can come and go, or be a constant sound.
TREATMENTS FOR TINNITUS
Although there is no actual cure for Tinnitus there are management techniques which can help reduce the impact it has on your everyday life.
This can include:
Hearing aids
Tinnitus counselling
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
Tinnitus retraining therapy
